Dell Technologies unveils huge range of hardware and software for AI-ready data centers
Dell Technologies has rolled out a broad suite of infrastructure advancements across its server, storage, and data protection lineup, designed to meet the growing demands of both traditional and modern workloads, which, you know, is all about AI.
Stronger, faster, more efficient PowerEdge servers
To start, the new Dell PowerEdge R470, R570, R670, and R770 servers are equipped with Intel Xeon 6 processors to deliver significant boosts in performance, power efficiency, and space savings. The PowerEdge R770 consolidates legacy workloads and reduces data center footprints by up to 80% per rack while slashing energy costs. Meanwhile, the R570 model sets records for Intel performance per watt.
These servers are future-proofed with Dell’s adoption of the Data Center – Modular Hardware System (DC-MHS) architecture, part of the Open Compute Project, making integration into existing infrastructures more streamlined. New enhancements in Dell OpenManage and iDRAC 10 provide real-time monitoring and up to 33x reduced write latency when paired with the latest PERC13 RAID controller.
AI-driven automation and zero-trust security for PowerStore lineup
Other than that, Dell PowerStore now comes with software enhancements focused on automation, programmability, and security. The new features include AI-powered analytics through Dell AIOps (formerly CloudIQ), improved zero-trust security with DoD smart card authentication and Storage Direct Protection integration, and a boost to file system capabilities for better planning, protection, and data migration.
ObjectScale supports SSD/HDD appliances for AI workload
The next-gen Dell ObjectScale platform arrives with new flash- and HDD-based appliances optimized for AI. One of them is the ObjectScale XF960 that offers twice the throughput per node compared to competitors and 8x greater density than previous flash systems, while the ObjectScale X560 HDD model speeds up tasks like media ingest and AI model training by 83%.
The update also introduces powerful hybrid cloud capabilities, including geo-replication and data governance tools, which are developed in collaboration with Wasabi for efficient AI data lake management.
Optimized PowerScale to tackle AI data throughput
As for Dell PowerScale products, they now support ultra-dense all-flash configurations with up to 122TB SSDs in a 2U node, enabling up to 6PB of high-speed access per node for demanding AI workloads. Additionally, refreshed H and A series nodes bring reduced latency and improved compute performance, making them ideal for hybrid or archive use cases.
Modern update in data resilience and efficiency for PowerProtect
New updates to Dell PowerProtect aim to strengthen cyber resilience with better scalability and faster restore times. The PowerProtect DD6410 appliance supports up to 256TB and features deduplication up to 65x, while the All-Flash Ready Node delivers faster restores and a smaller footprint with reduced power use.
Updates to PowerProtect Data Manager add features like anomaly detection, expanded support for virtual environments, and improved archival to Dell ObjectScale for long-term retention.
