Will VR Training Redefine IT Hardware Education?

Will VR Training Redefine IT Hardware Education?

Last week, Changefied, an emerging company that brings immersive learning services to business and education clients, debuted Virtual TechLab, a VR solution that assists with IT training procedures.

The Virtual TechLab application leverages VR spatial learning technology to provide IT trainees with a VR environment that “redefines IT education.”

Changefied established itself earlier this year in June; the North Holland-based firm aims to explore the future of IT hardware education with Virtual TechLab and its series of integrated repeatable and engaging immersive learning procedures – which the firm claims gives students a competitive edge.

Erik Welling, a Techlab Lead Software Engineer at Changefied, added:

Virtual TechLab goes beyond traditional learning by providing students with a practical, virtual experience. We are confident that this approach will transform the landscape of IT hardware education and prepare students for successful careers in the dynamic world of the IT sector.

The virtual environments provide students with a series of detailed explanations regarding the assembly of desktop PCs. Moreover, Virtual TechLab helps IT students understand desktop PC assembly with various tasks and training scenarios, which present troubleshooting issues via notifications and other visualisations.

Empower Teachers and Students

To assist trainees in their learning journey, Virtual TechLab gives teachers the tools required to guide IT students to learning success.

Via a tablet, the interoperable VR training service allows teachers to mentor a student during an immersive learning scenario. The inclusion enables teachers to respond instantly to the learning needs of an IT student.

Additionally, Virtual TechLab includes innovative collaboration features that further push the learning power held between students and teachers. The platform’s student-teacher collaboration features encourage teamwork while also allowing learners to engage more directly with their teacher’s knowledge base.

Changefied designed Virtual TechLab to assist a range of end-users, from experienced IT instructors and heads of departments to trainees/students, thereby creating an inclusive and democratised IT learning opportunity.

According to the firm, the Virtual TechLab immersive learning system is seamless for teachers and students to get hands-on with VR training. A teacher can adjust a training session – from their tablet – to perfectly match a student’s learning needs.

By leveraging Virtual TechLab, learning institutions no longer need to limit opportunities due to budgetary, time, and hardware restrictions. Moreover, by leveraging a VR training service, teachers no longer need to worry about the fallout of dealing with real-world training mistakes – which can lead to time or capital-based consequences.

Moreover, the Virtual TechLab system allows trainers to teach up to two students in a single shared immersive learning experience, allowing students to learn from each other alongside their teacher’s input.

Changefied designed its Virtual TechLab VR training solution alongside Netherlands-based educational institutions, with the firm testing the title extensively with its target audience to create an application that saves educational institutions time and money.

Working with educational institutions allows Changefied to establish a solid baseline for the future of XR in education and training with its feedback from real-life end-users.
